Tech Task #11: A Peek Inside Your Classroom
You've listened to several great teachers and speakers, connected with
classrooms and hopefully you've been thinking about your future classroom. What
will it be like? What are the must haves? Think not only about the technology
but the pedagogy and learning environments. Embed a trail of links to the people
and ideas we've explored this semester throughout your post.
Environment
I think that the environment that you put out/allow in your classroom will set the mood for the entire year. Therefore, having a postive classroom environment, right from the first day is very important. I would set, and talk to my students rules and expectations. I think that this is an important thing to do with students, so that they fully understand the relationship. It is also a good idea to reference back to these set rules/expectations through the school year, as well as to not break them/allow students to do so. If this happens, students will lose this respect and believe that they can do whatever they want.
Clarence discussed the importance of this in last weeks class - www.evenfromhere.org/
Collaboration
This is something that ALL of our guest speakers have discussed. It is also something that I want to make sure I do as a teacher. This doesn't only mean collaborate with other teachers in our school, but worldwide We now have the ability to be able to connect with people all around the world. This can be done through video websites, like skype OR messaging resources like Twitter. Why not use this to our advantage!? I think that as a teacher, you have to know that working with others, no matter how difficult a task that this may be, is very beneficial to our students. They learn more, and you grow as a teacher.
Heather - http://heatherdurnin.com has many different resources about how to use technology to connect with others.
Identity
As a teacher, I don't believe that we have identities that are seprate from the classroom. This all goes together and meshes into one. This includes the identity that we put out there online. I want to work on improving my online identity, as well as my students. I think that this would be an important component of my class. I would incorporate this through the assignments that I give, as well as the components that I add to my class. Blogs are a good way of doing this, and as a teacher this would be one of the first thing that I incorporate. This would allow students to express their learning in a positive way for the rest of the world to see.
George - www.georgecouros.ca discussed with us the importance of online identity and how you could use this to get the advantages in life.

Tech Task #10: Best Ideas
Choose your favorite idea from each of the three presenters and describe and share how you might incorporate them into your classroom. Use links
from their blogs as references.
Heather
Heather had mentioned movie maker and how she used it for one of her projects. She said that she hasn’t always liked using this tool. I haven’t had much experience with movie maker. I’ve relied on what people have told me about it. This is a tool that I have always wanted to incorporate for video projects. This is something that I really want to do. It allows students to get creative with projects and do something that is a little out of the ordinary. I really haven’t heard about other tools for videos. This is something that I would like to explore further. I want to find something that is easy for me and my students to use but also something that has awesome and exciting features.
I love the idea of all of using Google hangout with my students. This is not something that I have ever tried before but I am very intrigued by the whole idea of
it. I`ve used Skype a lot, as well as Wiziq for my mentorship assignment. I found that these don`t have a lot of options, nor or they the best quality.
Another problem with these is that they don`t allow you to use screen share. I found this very difficult for doing presentations, I like that Google hangout gives you that option. It also allows you to record your video which is a bonus. The fact that it can connect to your Google drive makes it even more excited. I would love to learn more about this and even give it a try soon!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of thinking books! This gives kids the chance to use their creativity. I like the idea that it is a messy but productive. I
want to be able to give my students the chance to express themselves in any way that they choose. This seems like something simple and easy to do, but also something that can be beneficial to the student’s learning.

Collaboration.
I think that this is something that teachers don’t do because it is difficult and it does take a lot of work and planning. They think that it is easier to just put off and do their lessons on their own. I don’t want to be a teacher like this. I think that you learn a lot from your colleagues! When you bring people together, you get a lot of different ideas that you would never come up with on your own. This is very beneficial to your students, as well as you as a professional.

Tech Task #9: Are You Well Googled?
- - Watch presentation.
- Tweet @gcouros with a question or comment about his talk #ecmp355 hashtag.
- Google yourself and give a screen shot. Do you like what you find? What might you like to see in the future.
This is a screen shot of what I found after I googled myself. I must say that I was disappointed about what I found. There wasn't too many of the things that I found that were actually me. My Facebook and my Wiz blog as well as this weebly blog did come up however. This has made me see what is out there about me, as well as motivated me to want to change some of it. I would like to spend more time online improving my identity. This is very important to me for future employers as well as colleagues and students to see. I will keep working on my (online) identity. I put this in brackets because as George said, our online identity becomes our identity. I will share a new photo in a couple of weeks on my blog to see the improvements that have been made.
Tech Task #8: Mobile
Part One:
I am using weebly, so I was to make a 20 second video of why I like weebly and email this video to [email protected]
Part Two:
Puruse this QR resource. Create a QR code print it out and do something with it. Then blog about it.
(Hint: if you're stuck for an idea, link it to a funny youtube video and leave it out for someone to find). Blog about this.
I found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H96-TwrwY7M. on YouTube a couple of weeks ago and I found it very funny!! It is "Call Me Maybe" but its the US Troops impersonating the Miami Dolphin Cheerleaders. I decided to make this into a QR code in the free QR code generator. I posted this code below. I also printed a couple of them off and left them on the tables outside of the 'C' Store here at the university. I hope some people checked it out and it gave them a laugh!! Let me know if you were one of the people who came across my QR code and got to see this funny video!

Tech Task #7: IFTTT (if this, then that)
Set up an account on IFTTT. Activate at least 2 channels. Browse the recipes and copy one or create your own
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkzc_jdEw2I. Blog about the recipe you created.
I activated eight different channels.
I wanted to create my own recipe but was a little bit unsure of where I should begin or how I should go about it. I decided to start by browsing the different recipes that they had on IFTTT. I came across the recipe where I could archive my Tweets (RSS feed) to a Google Drive (spreadsheet). This one cuaght my eye because I thought that it would be a great thing (once I begin to Tweet more...sorry #ecmp355 I haven't gotten into the tweeting habit yet, but I will try and tweet more!!). I am going to keep looking through this and finding new recipes! I really like this site. It is easy to navigate and to fun to discover this different recipes that they have.

Tech Task #6: About Me
Create your own About Me page.
I created my own about me page. I have having trouble getting it to work as a widget. I will keep working on it, but for now, here is the link!

Tech Task #5: Storytelling and Creation
Using the same story, use 2 different tools to tell it.
I decided to tell the story of a cat and mouse being friends and the problem that was!
1) This is a comic strip I made using bubblr: http://www.pimpampum.net/bubblr/ You can find my creation at:

Tech Task #4: Visual Literacy
- Create at least 2 six word stories as separate blog posts. Be thoughtful not only in the text but the design. Be sure to cite your image source using Creative Commons images. (Below)
Redo at least one of your previous blog posts to include a relevant image and/or video. (See blog posts: Transitions and Everyday)

Tech Task # 3: Connecting
Description
Subscribe to 3 blogs and describe why you chose to read.
1) http://teachingall.blogspot.ca/ I chose this blog "Teaching All Students" by Patrick Black for several different reasons. With the diversity in the classroom today, we are going to have to find different ways to teach, differentiate and adapt our teaching styles to the needs in the classroom. The first thing that appealed to me was the title of his blog, it made me interested in what Patrick had to say. I checked it out and started reading an article about how a game helped a child with Asberger's learn more efficiently. He also has different Ipad apps and technology uses that could help with stude
Tech Task #2: Exploring Google Forms
Description:
Create a simple google form and embed it in your blog. I wanted to poll the people in our class to find out what area of study they are interested in.
<iframe src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/embeddedform?formkey=dDY3LS1DdEFvbW50UXNjTmV1ZjVwRUE6MQ"
width="760" height="555" frameborder="0" marginheight="0"

Results of Google Forum:
Here are the results from the "what is your major?!" questionaire. Health seems to be the most popular choice! I'm glad other people are interested in the same area that I am!! A good use for this tool would be pre-assessment. You could have the students answer questions about the material to see where they are at before planning your lesson. This way the information is confidential - no one feels like they are being put on the spot or pointed out. This is a tool I would like to explore further and use in my classroom, especially for pre-assessment so I can see how much of the topic the students grasp.
